I think it would be a good idea if we could have more control video playback speed currently the playback speed slider does not seem to work with VLC and only works WMP can this be fixed with VLC?.
The maximum slider value is 2.0 not being bound to a global variable. When you bind the value it will allow you to change the value from 2.0 to 4.0. as per @Alex @alban 
You know you want to add this feature.
Could this be something as a quick fix to change the value range or even add some additional triggers for example:
A person is running on a treadmill when the speed reaches 2.0 then show a message on screen, although you can do this with a global variable when value changes but it would be great if this was a inbuilt trigger.
