Prevent "Close Button" on New Item

I’m currently using an Asset Grid to grab an item and open it outside of the collection. By default the new item shows with the “close button” attached to it, for about 5 seconds.

How can I disable the close button from appearing on drop? It would be fine if the close button showed on selection of the item, but would prefer it didn’t show following drop placement.

This close button is not configurable today, so I’ll move your post to the wishlist section.

Regarding your specific use case, are you using the drad&drop to open to be able to open multiple times the same object from the asset grid or not?

Yes, drag & drop is being used for this.
