Touchless interaction

Hi @melvyn_br,

“Gestures” or I’d rather say “touch in the air” is definitely another good approach to the current interrogations about touch screens, as discussed in this other thread: AIRxTOUCH™.

The big “pros” about these type of solutions is that they work out of the box with Intuiface, since they are recognized “as a touch screen” at the OS level.

True “gesture recognition”, such as swipe left / right, still have a few cons in my opinion for such scenarios

  • learning curve: you’re not in your living room with a tutorial on how to interact.
  • reliability / sensibility to light: swipe gesture are really tough to detect in a “non-controlled environment”, meaning again not playing with Kinect in your living room.

If anyone finds a good, reliable system that can be used in a public environment, you can build your own Custom Interface Asset, as we did with OpenVINO, and create your own Intuiface integration there.
